Marcelle Abela Presented with the Cinematic Alchemist Award

Marcelle Abela, the Maltese-American filmmaker whose documentaries are making waves on the international scene, has been presented with the Cinematic Alchemist Award for her dedication to independent cinema. Given unanimously by the judges of the Luis Bunuel Memorial Awards that are held in Kolkata, India, the Cinematic Alchemist Award was granted to Abela in recognition of her innovative and inspiring spirit in filmmaking, a significant ability to captivate audiences with films, and her contributions to the industry. Abela is the writer-director of the documentaries America's Woman, Mikha'El, and Ukraine's Soul among others. She is also founding director of the production house Avinu Films (USA / Malta).
