'America's Woman' Receives Award at the 2024 Accolade Global Film Competition

Marcelle Abela's second documentary feature America’s Woman - A Journey Into the Heart of America's Past and Future has won an Award of Merit at the 2024 Accolade Global Film Competition held this week in Los Angeles, California. The fifth award for this Avinu Films picture, hailed by viewers as a unique and shockingly powerful film that defies expectations at every turn, America's Woman was recognized as an outstanding achievement for the second time in the Direction category. The documentary has also won Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Score at other film festivals in the United States and elsewhere, making today's award the fifth one received by America's Woman.   

The Accolade Global Film Competition celebrates independent cinema by recognizing exceptional achievement in craft and storytelling by filmmaking professionals worldwide. In winning this award, Abela joins the ranks of high-profile Oscar winners like Malcolm Clarke and industry icon Ron Howard, as well as Disney's Dave Bossert. Presently, America's Woman is traveling the world, with its South American premiere taking place in Brazil later this month as part of the Olhar Film Festival's line-up.
